Barry Brown has more than 25 years of legislative, political, and professional advocacy experience in Washington, D.C. Brown came to the Alpine Group from his role as Chief of Staff to Congressman Michael C. Burgess, MD (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the Health Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee for the past 10 years. Prior to joining Dr. Burgess, Barry worked off the Hill as a Vice President of the Alpine Group.
Barry began his career as a Legislative Assistant to Congressman Larry Combest (R-TX), Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, handling telecommunications, energy, higher education, and judiciary issues. He then was named Legislative Director to Congressman Kevin Brady (R-TX), Chairman of the Trade Subcommittee of the House Ways and Means Committee where he handled telecommunications, trade, defense, energy, higher education, and judiciary issues. In 2000, Barry joined the congressional staff of Congresswoman Kay Granger (R-TX), Chairman of the State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee as Chief of Staff.
At the age of 13, Barry began working on grassroots political campaigns in his hometown in Texas. This early involvement in campaigns became a passion as he eventually chaired a successful congressional campaign on his college campus, Texas Tech University, which opened the door to his first stint on Capitol Hill as an intern. He has worked or advised on numerous federal, state, and local races over the past 32 years.
Barry is a fifth-generation Texan. He has previously served as President of the National Board of Directors of the Texas Tech Alumni Association and most recently served on the National Board of the Red Raider Club. Barry currently serves as the First Vice President of the Texas State Society of Washington, D.C. and on the Board of Governors of the National Republican Club of Capitol Hill.
